For many years I’ve been fascinated by art and in particular the depiction of the human form. I began my own journey of creative self-discovery in the escapist world of comic books. Admiring the unique cartoon stylings of Jack Kirby in my earlier years and later, becoming encapsulated by the popular fantasy illustrative works of Boris Vallejo and Alex Ross I began on my journey towards a love of portraiture and figurative illustration.
Having briefly studied at Maidenhead College of Art and Design, I subsequently embarked on a career as a commercial illustrator and graphic designer before leaving the art world for more mundane vocations.
Following a long sabatical, in 2012 I returned to my great love of painting and drew inspiration for my portraiture and figurative work from such artists as the beautifully insightful Pierre Gonord to the innovative and noncomformist Dave McKean.
I narrowly failed to exhibit at the prestigious BP National Portrait awards 2013 but am pleased to say 'Laugh of the Mohicans' will be exhibited at the South Hill Park Summer Open Exhibition, Bracknell, Berkshire from August 3rd to September 22nd.
I work in various styles using a wide range of techniques and in a number of different mediums and am currently working on another assault on the BP awards in 2014.
